Pay by Link: getting invoices settled without chasing them

Pay by Link: getting invoices settled without chasing them — Raise Invoice & Pay by Link

Chasing payment is one of the least enjoyable parts of running a business, and one of the most expensive. Every unpaid invoice is your money funding someone else’s cash flow. Pay by Link removes most of the friction: instead of waiting on a transfer or arranging a card reader, you send a secure link and get paid.

How it works

  1. Generate the link. From your dashboard, create a payment link with the amount and a short description.
  2. Send it. Email, SMS or a messaging app — wherever you already talk to that customer.
  3. They pay. The customer taps the link, enters their details on a secure page and authorises the payment.
  4. Both sides are notified. You get confirmation the moment it clears, so you can fulfil without checking your bank.

Why it collects faster than a bank transfer

A bank transfer asks your customer to do work: open their banking app, key in an IBAN, get a reference right, and remember to do it at all. Each of those is a chance to defer it to tomorrow. A payment link asks them to tap once while they are already reading your message. The gap between “agreed” and “paid” is where most late payment lives, and this closes it.

When to use it

  • Invoices you want settled quickly rather than in thirty days.
  • Deposits and one-off charges taken before work begins.
  • Repeat and recurring purchases from customers you already know.
  • Remote sales where no terminal is present and no website exists.
  • Phone orders, without anyone reading a card number aloud — which you should never be doing.

The security point people miss

Taking card details over the phone or by email is a genuine risk: those numbers end up in inboxes, notebooks and call recordings, and that is your liability. A payment link moves the card entry onto an encrypted page where you never see or store the number. It is faster and it removes a problem you may not have realised you had.

Common questions

Do I need a website?

No. That is the point — Pay by Link works with no website, no integration and no hardware.

Can I reuse a link?

Links can be created for a single payment or for repeat use, depending on how you are billing. We will set it up to match how you invoice.

What if the customer has no card?

The payment page supports the methods your account is enabled for, which reaches customers who would otherwise need a bank transfer.
